Abortion

There is NO debate about abortion. Rather, I should say there is no debate about ABORTION.

Before you ask me what I just smoked, open your mind and keep on reading.

First, observe that there is no one carrying signs, "We want more abortions". In the absence of pro-abortion people, there cannot be debate about abortion. People are either anti-abortion to varying degrees, or indifferent. The REAL debate, and the distinction of "pro-life" and "pro-choice", is about something else - we will get to that later.

Recall the spotted owl of the 1980s. Environmentalists made headlines for protesting the destruction of the forests in which these owls lived. The spotted owl was endangered, and if the cutting continued, the species would be threatened. But did these activists really care about the owl? At first, no. There are hundreds of species that are endangered, and that go extinct all the time. They really cared about preserving the old forests, which take centuries to grow, and the entire ecosystems these forests contain. The spotted owl was just a means to an end - the LEGAL means. US law dictates that the environment of endangered species may not be destroyed. Without the law and the owl, the words of the protesters would fall on deaf ears. Of course, us humans often make the means into an end. People started to care about the spotted owl, and forgot how they got there.

So what does this have to do with abortion? When you consider the REAL debate, it makes sense. Pro-lifers wish to restrict human (especially female) sexuality; pro-choice people are in favor of sexual freedom. Abortion is the legal means. End of story.

No one in theory cares about a 3 hour old fetus. The same is true about a 2 week old fetus. Its a clump of cells - not a baby. Once we reach 6 or 7 months, that's a whole other story, but like the owl, abortion is the means that has become the end for many.

Notice that every time there is some effort to provide sex education or contraception to the public, pro-life groups come out of left field stating that these initiatives will only promote more sex. As this site grows, I will post more and more instances of this.

Along with the abortion debate, sex education comes up. The instance of abstinence education (whatever that means) is on the rise. There is actually a debate over whether that should be the sole form of sex education. OK - I'm all for compromise and throwing the dog a bone to shut it up, but the sole form? These individuals have quite the warped view of reality. In my solution to the abortion symptom (its not a problem - its a symptom of something greater), I will get into this issue more.

Teaching abstinence is promoted by all the pro-life groups, including our Texan President (Who has many strengths, but no one is perfect!). This is a blatant confession of their true view. They are promoting a solution that holds no water because its not the solution! IT'S THE GOAL ITSELF!

Even though teaching abstinence is getting support from the Feds and many school administrators, it cannot survive in the long run. These misled advocates are swimming against the tide - as soon as they take a breather, they will be right back where they began, and then some. Humans are sexual beings, and no power can hide that indefinitely. TRYING TO TEACH PEOPLE NOT TO HAVE SEX IS TANTAMOUNT TO TRYING TO TEACH THEM NOT TO BREATH.

And so you may ask, why is sex such a bad thing to these people? Why do they take it so seriously. There are 2 main reasons, one being religious (sex in general - below), and the other being social (female sexuality - in the relationship section).

Sex is a sin because sex is pleasure. Pleasure is a sin because it makes you happy, and when people are happy, they tend to stray from the church. The church then loses market share, and money. See the religion page for a more detailed explanation. Most of the "flock" have been trained to believe that there is something moral about denying oneself pleasure, that willpower to fight against natural urges is admirable in its own right - even if there is no benefit now or later (Did someone say heaven? We'll get to that issue). This has been one of the worst travesties committed against humanity, and we don't buy it.

I will never complain or criticize if I cannot offer a legitimate alternative. Continue to the abortion issues & solutions.
